OREGON, Ill. — Do you know what a carbohydrate is, or even care? Every time we pick up a magazine or turn on the news, there is some new recommendation about what to eat or, more so, what not to eat. No wonder there is so much confusion around what really is a healthy diet.
Whether your goal is to make healthier food choices, lose weight or better control your glucose levels, University of Illinois Extension in Ogle County will offer “The Truth About Carbs” from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 19. The program will help clear up the confusion and dispel the myths surrounding carbohydrates.
Join Marilyn Csernus, University of Illinois Extension nutrition and wellness educator and MS, RD, CDE registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator, for this program at the Rock River Center, 810 S. 10th St., Oregon, Ill. The program is free, and all are welcome. Healthy recipes will be provided, along with a cooking demonstration and recipe sampling.
