Photos: Reynolds wins second straight feature at Rockford Speedway

Reynolds held off, from left in top photo, Kyle Shear (No. 36), Jerry Gille (No. 99), Alex Papini (No. 39) and Ricky Bilderback (No. 02). Papini, the division’s season points leader, finished second; Bilderback, a seven-time division champion at the track, finished third; Jerry Gille, a three-time division champion at the track, finished fourth; and Jacob Gille finished fifth. Other feature winners Aug. 24 included Johnny Robinson II in the Sportsman division; Kyle Lapier in the Short Tracker division; and Gene Marocco in the Road Runner division. Season points in the Late Model division after Aug. 24 are as follow: 1. Alex Papini, 969 points; 2. Jerry Gille, 905 points; 3. Jon Reynolds Jr., 888 points; 4. Jacob Gille, 864 points; 5. Joel Clossey, 608 points. Top five in All-American Sportsmen season points are as follow: 1. Doug Bennett, 726 points; 2. Brett McCoy, 689 points; 3. Daryl Gerke, 630 points; 4. Johnny Robinson II, 619 points; and 5. Justin Sellers, 600 points. Racing resumes at the track Saturday, Sept. 7. While racing engines will be quiet at Rockford Speedway (9572 Forest Hills Road, Loves Park, Ill.) Labor Day weekend, there will still be plenty of activity at the facility as Skinner Amusements presents its Labor Day Weekend Carnival Friday, Aug. 30, through Sunday, Sept. 1. The carnival, taking place in the Speedway’s main parking lot, promises fun for the whole family and kicks off at 5 p.m., Friday, Aug. 30, featuring an all-ages/all-rides wristband for $15 until 8:30 p.m. The carnival continues at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 31, with an all-ages/all-rides wristband for $15 offered until 4:30 p.m. The carnival will wrap up Sunday, Sept. 1, with rides starting at 1 p.m. Sunday’s special is an offer of 10 tickets for $15 until 6 p.m. All rides Sunday are just one ticket until 6 p.m. There will also be food vendors on grounds for all who visit the carnival throughout the weekend.
