The Rock Valley College (RVC) Athletics Department will add men’s and women’s soccer programs and the teams will begin play in the fall of 2014. Both teams will compete in the N4C (North Central Community College Conference) at the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association) Division III level.
A search for men’s and women’s soccer coaches will begin immediately, so recruiting of players for next fall can get under way.
“We are excited to add soccer to the RVC athletics family,” said RVC Athletic Director Misty Opat. “We look forward to bringing in a new group of student-athletes and coaches who we feel confident will continue the tradition of success RVC athletics has been building in recent years, both in and out of the classroom.”
In the last three years alone, RVC athletics has won four NJCAA national championships (women’s tennis, women’s basketball back-to-back, and volleyball), while golf, men’s tennis, men’s basketball, and softball have all competed at the NJCAA tournament.
Since 2001, RVC has won eight national championships and has had 93 student-athletes named NJCAA All-Americans, and 25 named NJCAA Academic All-Americans.
