California Guitar Trio kicks off Charlotte’s Web season at Mendelssohn Sept. 27

Staff Report

Charlotte’s Web’s 42nd Mainstage Series season kicks off with the California Guitar Trio (CGT) at Mendelssohn Hall Friday, Sept. 27. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., peace pole planting at 7 p.m., and concert at 7:30 p.m. A cash bar will be provided by Kryptonite, along with pie from Kate’s Pie Shop & Record Store.

CGT is the incredible guitar fusion trio of Paul Richards, Bert Lams and Hideyo Moriya. As Charlotte’s Web’s Lani Richardson wrote: “I know there are three of them: I can see and count them. However, when I close my eyes and just listen, the music they create together is an entire symphony orchestra for a piece, a full-fledged rock band for another, while simultaneously sounds like one single guitar: simply and truly incredible.”

CGT shows regularly sell out, so early arrival to the concert is recommended. Mendelssohn Hall is at 406 N. Main St., Rockford. Admission is $20 general, $10 student. Tickets are available at the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center office, 406 N. Main St. (9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday); via phone at (815) 964-9713; online at; or at the door the night of the concert.
