‘Alligator Weekend’ at Belvidere’s Summerfield Zoo Sept. 28-29

BELVIDERE, Ill. — Belvidere’s Summerfield Zoo, 3088 Flora Road, will present its “Alligator Weekend” Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28-29.

The public is invited to participate in celebrating both Elliot the alligator’s retirement from animal presentations and the arrival of the zoo’s newest alligator. The zoo will also be celebrating the grand opening of Elliot’s new outdoor habitat.

The weekend will include live alligators, a chance to feed Elliot the alligator in his new habitat, gator-themed animal presentations, alligator crafts, and pictures with the alligator. Be sure to enter the contest to name the newest alligator. Enjoy animal presentations, pony rides, bottle-feeding baby goats, petting zoo, and shopping in the gift shop.

Summerfield Zoo is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 28, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 29. Admission is $8 per adult, $6 per senior and $5 per child — all proceeds go to the care of all the animals, many of which are rescue animals.
