FREEPORT, Ill. — University of Illinois Extension wraps up the 2013 Openfields Local Foods Dinner Series by partnering with a Freeport-area favorite, Main Street Bistro, for a second year in a row.
Main Street Bistro has made a name for itself as the premier establishment in Freeport for farm-to-plate menu choices, live music and intimate ambiance. Last year’s Openfields patrons were greatly impressed with a creative, delicious, mid-summer peak-harvest meal. This year, owner and executive chef Craig Perkins is planning a harvest-themed dinner, and will offer attendees a delicious five-course meal featuring Stephenson County’s finest fall harvest ingredients.
The Openfields dinner at Main Street Bistro will be Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 109 S. Galena Ave., Freeport. Cocktails begin at 5:30 p.m., with a 6 p.m. dinner seating. The menu will include an appetizer, salad, two tapas-style entrees and dessert. Cost is $50 per person. A vegetarian option is available, and an optional wine pairing will be offered for an additional fee. Space is limited.
