Staff Report

From 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 12, SwedishAmerican Health System invites the public to attend an open house for the new SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center, 3535 N. Bell School Road, Rockford, near Riverside and I-90.

The 63,000-square-foot, free-standing Regional Cancer Center, which opens Oct. 15, is part of a collaboration with UW Health and its nationally recognized University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center. The two-story facility offers radiation therapy, medical oncology, chemotherapy and infusion services.

Patients will have access to clinical trials; state-of-the-art linear accelerator treatments such as IGRT, IMRT, Rapid Arc, OBI and stereotactic services; and advanced medical imaging.

The center also includes healing gardens and offers a number of holistic and support services, making it unlike any other facility in northern Illinois.

In addition to self-guided tours, attendees will enjoy free refreshments, receive prizes, and have the opportunity to meet doctors and staff.
