POPLAR GROVE, Ill. — EAA1414 will host its fourth annual “Thank a Veteran Breakfast” Sunday, Oct. 13, at Poplar Grove Airport, 11619 Illinois 76, Poplar Grove, Ill.
All veterans will be offered a free breakfast. Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. until noon, with the cost for a meal at $7 for adults and $4 for children 6-12. Past breakfasts have honored more than 100 veterans at each event. Veterans are encouraged to bring proof of status to receive the free meal.
Menu includes scrambled eggs (using real eggs), pancakes, sausage and fruit cups. Coffee and orange juice will also be provided.
EAA 1414 is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to further the education of all aviators to be better pilots and builders. In addition, EAA 1414 works to reach out to the non-aviation community to introduce them to the excitement that is aviation.
EAA 1414 will also be conducting a Young Eagle Rally from 9 a.m. to noon. Free introductory airplane flights will be offered to youth ages 8-17. The Young Eagles program has been developed by the EAA Aviation Foundation to welcome young people into the world of aviation. Through this program, children are offered a safe and enjoyable flight that gives them new perspectives on the world and life in general. Local pilots will be donating their time, airplanes and fuel during this event
