The “Young Eagles Success” (YES) Club program of character development and excellence for kids using music received the “Partner for Peace” Award from the Violence Prevention Collaborative of the Winnebago County Health Department (WCHD) at the recent “Peace” Awards Luncheon.
Carl and Dianna Cole of Sounds of Good News (SOGN) Productions accepted the trophy. This historic moment inspired the creation of a new “PEACE” movement for the organization, with “PEACE” standing for “Positive Energy And Character Excellence.”
Throughout the month of October, SOGN will facilitate its fall rally to benefit the “YES” vision. Awareness of the movement will be heightened during October celebrations, including National “Arts and Humanities” Month, “International Non-Violence” Day, United Nations Day and United Nations Week.
Their annual “Discovery and Recovery” Columbus Day School’s-out “YES” Workshop will be at the Mendelssohn STARR Auditorium (415 N. Church St.) from 1 to 3 p.m., Monday, Oct. 14. Admission is free.
SOGN is also in the process of developing new collaborations with partners like the WCHD and the Illinois Child and Youth Safety Committee, as well as implementing a “YES” Club in its hometown of Freeport in the Stephenson County region.
A new “Support & Donations” page has been added to the SOGN website for online contributions to benefit “YES” fall/winter projects. Call (815) 914-1487 or visit www.soundsofgoodnews.com.
