The Immigration Reform Bill is just another Washington “smoke and mirrors” scam.

Politicians are constantly stating that our immigration policy is broken and that it needs to be fixed. I have yet to hear anyone state, with any specificity, just what part of the law is broken and why it does not work.

The fact is the law works just fine. What’s broken is our border security … and that’s because it’s virtually nonexistent. The 1986 Amnesty law contained specific border security measures. We were told that our government would fix the border, in addition to declaring amnesty for 3 million illegal immigrants. Amnesty was declared, and the border security improvement measures were immediately forgotten.

In 2006, our Washington Quiz Kids passed a law to extend the border fence from 40 miles to more than 700 miles. Well, here it is 2013, and would anyone be surprised to learn that our border fence is still 40 miles long?

But wait! There’s good news! The 2013 Immigration Scam promises us that same 700 miles of new fence … again!

Of course, our new class of senators promise that this latest “Immigration Reform Bill” will contain strong border security measures. Yeah, thumb back a few more pages and you will find caveats that place all of these “get-tough” security improvements at the discretion of the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security! In other words, if the DHS secretary, a political appointee, decides not to fix the border, the border remains as porous as it is … end of story.

The senate “Gang of 8” con artists behind this proposal intend it to be nothing more than an amnesty. U.S. Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, proposed an amendment that would have prevented legalizing anybody until the border was secure. Mindful of 1986 when we were promised that secure border, and 2006 when we were promised that fence, Grassley proposed a “put up or shut up” way to prevent our government from lying to us … again. However, Senate Democrats were having none of that, and Grassley’s proposal was shot down with virtually no discussion.

It’s 1986 all over … amnesty and NO border security. I can’t stop this scam, but I will not sit by and allow the lies and these liars to continue unchallenged. The “Gang of 8” immigration reform is nothing but an amnesty that will not stop illegal immigration, it will make it worse. Don’t let these shysters fool you again!
