Smash your pumpkin at Discovery Center Museum Nov. 3
Online Staff Report
Not sure what to do with that jack-o’-lantern with the face that’s starting to cave in? Take the kids and your gloomy gourd to Discovery Center after Halloween. Watch a catapult set the orange guy aloft and see your pumpkin turn to pulp from 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 3, for the museum’s annual Smashing Pumpkins event.
Send your jack-o’-lantern flying through the air with the museum’s trebuchet, a counterweight catapult used in medieval times. Create your own miniature catapult and learn how to lob. Take part in various fall arts and crafts activities.
Discovery Center is inside Riverfront Museum Park, 711 N. Main St., Rockford. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m., daily. Admission is $8 adults, $8 children ages 2-17, and free for members and children ages 1 and younger. Call (815) 963-6769 or visit discoverycentermuseum.org.
