Culver’s offers VIP chance to experience Daytona 500 in person

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Jimmie Johnson and his crew chief, former Rockford resident Chad Knaus, went into last Sunday’s (Nov. 3) race in Texas tied for the season points lead with Matt Kenseth from nearby Cambridge, Wis. After leading all but 80 of the 334 laps, Johnson took the checkered flag and left Texas alone atop the point standings with only two races remaining this season.
As a result of his fourth-place finish at Texas, Kenseth is 7 points behind Johnson heading into this Sunday’s (Nov. 10) AdvoCare 500 race at the Phoenix International Speedway. The season will wind up the following week (Nov. 17) in Homestead, Fla., with the running of the Ford EcoBoost 400.
Whether it’s Johnson or Kenseth who claims the 2013 title, NASCAR fans have been treated to an exciting and highly competitive season. Up until an early race crash at Texas, Jeff Gordon was also considered a legitimate contender for another championship this year.
When the season does come to a close in a couple of weeks — and whether it’s Johnson or Kenseth capturing the title — NASCAR racing goes into hibernation for the remainder of November, all of December and January. The 2014 season will resume in February with the Daytona 500.
Culver’s restaurants are conducting a contest in which the winner will receive a VIP experience at the 2014 Daytona 500. When you purchase a value basket or a medium soft drink at participating Culver’s restaurants from now until Nov. 24, you will receive an entry code on the back of your cup. The code is then entered at the Culver’s contest website for a chance to win the Grand Prize.
Grand Prize includes the following:
• Round-trip coach airfare for four to Daytona Beach, Fla.;
• Two standard hotel rooms for three nights in Daytona Beach, Fla.;
• Rental car (or equivalent);
• Diet Mountain Dew apparel;
• Gift bag;
• Four tickets to the big race;
• Personal meet-and-greet with Dale Earnhardt Jr.; and
• $2,500 spending cash.
Entries must be submitted by Dec. 1.
So, don’t be surprised if you see me at Culver’s more than usual this month. Attending the Daytona 500 is on my “Bucket List,” and it’d be even nicer to win the trip while munching on a butter burger and some frozen custard!
