GALENA, Ill. — There are few ways better to begin the holiday season than with a festive showcase of beautiful trees, decorations and ornaments, complimented with both holiday music and seasonal refreshments. The Third Annual Festival of Trees will be the perfect opportunity to do just that. It will be held from noon to 7 p.m., Nov. 16, at the DeSoto House Hotel Ballroom, 230 S. Main St., Galena, Ill.
Each year, various donors contribute decorated trees, wreaths, tabletop settings, and other displays. Some of these donations will include stockings for pets by Lynn Gaber and a snowman centerpiece by Bonnie Cox, as well as other unique pieces from Gustafson & Grey, Galena City Hall, the Chamber of Commerce, the Bed & Breakfast Innkeepers of Galena, Visit Galena, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Galena Public Library, and many others.
It will be a great way to spend time with family and friends, but the day will include more than just the opportunity to browse the displays, listen to music, and sip on holiday beverages. Visitors will also be encouraged to purchase raffle tickets and enter drawings with the chance to take home any of their favorite decorations. The winner drawings will be held at 7 p.m. that day.
Stockings stuffed with candy will also be available for $10 each throughout the day. All proceeds benefit the Galena-Jo Daviess County Historical Society.
