ROSCOE, Ill. — Two of Roscoe’s leaders in creating fun, active lifestyles for the whole family are teaming up this month, all in the name of giving.
Kids Spot and Maximum Performance invite the public to join them for a food and clothing drive Saturday, Nov. 23. In exchange for one new or gently-used clothing item or five non-perishable food items, participants will enjoy giving back to the community and themselves.
From 5:15 to 6:15 p.m., Nov. 23, at Kids Spot, 9461 N. Second St., in Roscoe, adults will be treated to a one-hour group fitness workout with Maximum Performance’s certified trainers while the Kids Spot’s trained staff hosts an open workout for the kids.
“We have enjoyed a great working relationship with Maximum Performance for quite some time now,” said Susan Johnson, owner of Kids Spot. “We share the common interests of creating healthy habits and lifestyles, and the desire to give back to the communities that have been so supportive of us, so this is the perfect opportunity to do both.”
All clothing from the event will benefit Remedies (formerly WAVE of Rockford) to assist parents and children in crisis as a result of domestic violence. Food donations will benefit the 60-plus families who are assisted weekly by the Rockton Food Pantry, operated by Old Stone Church in Rockton, Ill. Items being sought are winter clothing, coats, hats, gloves and scarves, non-perishable food items, and toiletries such as toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo and laundry detergent.
If you are unable to attend, but would still like to donate, items can be dropped off at Kids Spot, 9461 N. Second St., Roscoe. For more information about the food and clothing drive, call (815) 623-5437 or e-mail email@example.com.
