ROCHELLE, Ill. — Rochelle Community Hospital (RCH) has announced it has entered into a network affiliation agreement with OSF Healthcare System.
RCH and OSF have worked together for a number of years under an independent affiliation agreement. This new collaboration will establish a more clinically integrated health care delivery system for patients in north central Illinois.
Rochelle Community Hospital retains its independence as a locally governed community hospital with sole responsibility for hospital administration.
In announcing this agreement, both RCH and OSF recognize that changes taking place in the marketplace in regard to health care delivery and reimbursement require health care providers to develop new models to render services more effectively and efficiently.
“As a rural critical access hospital, we know our market and realize there are limitations on the number and breadth of services we can provide; therefore, working collaboratively with OSF HealthCare will enable RCH to assess the needs of those in our service area and develop methods to most effectively meet those needs,” said Mark Batty, RCH chief executive officer.
RCH and OSF have worked together with shared services for many years. Currently, OSF physicians specializing in cardiology and hematology/oncology see patients weekly at Rochelle Community Hospital’s Multi-Specialty Center and have been doing so for more than 10 years.
“We are very excited about this new partnership with Rochelle Community Hospital,” said David Schertz, chief executive officer of OSF HealthCare — Northern Region. “The pace of change occurring in health care requires all health care providers to evaluate and implement much closer working relationships to enhance service, remain consistent in our pursuit of quality and reduce the cost of care.”
Through this new network affiliation agreement, both parties anticipate an opportunity for the sharing of resources resulting in more cost-effective delivery of health care services.
