Man shot during drug deal gone wrong near Fifth Avenue and Seventh Street

Jarian Caldwell-Flint, 33, is in custody after being shot during a drug deal gone wrong around 1 a.m., Friday, Jan. 3, near Fifth Avenue and Seventh Street in Rockford.
Caldwell-Flint was shot multiple times in the elbow and thigh. His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening. Those responsible for the shooting are not in custody.
Caldwell-Flint has been charged with intent to deliver cocaine and possession of marijuana. Police patroling the area heard the shots fired around 1 a.m., Friday, Jan. 3.

Court records show Caldwell-Flint faced cannabis charges in 1997, cocaine and misdemeanor retail theft charges in 1998, and armed robbery charges in 2007.
