Rockford Police Department unveils ‘Police Blotter’ site
Online Staff Report
The Rockford Police Department has unveiled a new site where information about significant incidents that may be of interest to the public and the media may be located.
The site is called “Police Blotter” and is published on the Police Department’s website at www.rockfordil.gov/police. The public and media can go to the website and click on Police Blotter, which is listed on the right side at the bottom of the blue box or directly at http://rockfordil.gov/police/police-blotter.aspx.
The Police Blotter will be used to report those significant incidents that were once routinely posted on NIXLE. NIXLE will still be used by the Rockford Police Department, but for only emergency or community messages. For example, if a serious accident occurs requiring the closing of a road, a NIXLE will be used to alert the public of the crash and the road closure. Once the Patrol Shift Commander has information to release about the crash, the details will be posted to the Police Blotter.
