Crusader Community Health Foundation says thanks

January 8, 2014

Editor’s note: The following letter was addressed to Editor and Publisher Frank Schier.

Dear Mr. Schier,

We simply can’t thank you enough for all your continued support and the shared passion of our mission: to provide access to quality health care to those in need.

Without you, Crusader would be hard pressed to provide the medical and dental care for the uninsured or under-insured in Winnebago and Boone counties.

Demand for Crusader services continues to grow. Last year:

• Crusader served nearly 48,000 local patients with more than 205,000 visits;

• One-fifth of the greater Rockford population used Crusader for their health care needs;

• More than 21,000 of our area’s children call Crusader their medical and dental home; and

• Crusader visits are up 10 percent over the past year.

Our recent Evening of Caring gala featured the theme Hats Off to Broadway! We highlighted the major role our Broadway-Uram facility plays in stabilizing this area.

Unlike Crusader’s newer facilities, older buildings like our Broadway-Uram building need many regular upgrades. These needs are often less glamorous than new medical or dental equipment. However, facility updates are equally important to delivering quality medical and dental care in a safe and secure environment.

With your help, over the next year we will upgrade the Broadway facility with: new flooring, heating and air-conditioning updates, sidewalk repairs, drainage improvements and roof replacement.

Your gift today, through a tax-deductible donation, will provide help, hope and healing to many, many people in our community.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Please help Crusader address the growing needs in all our communities, especially the Broadway area.

Thank you again for your ongoing support. We wish you a safe, happy and healthy holiday season!

Jim Millikin, CPA, Board President
