‘Learn to Tango’ at Mendelssohn the second Friday of each month

The Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center will present “Learn to Tango” with Jacques Saint-Cyr and Maria Castello on the second Friday of each month at 7 p.m. at Mendelssohn Hall, 406 N. Main St., Rockford.

Try your hand at Tango! All ages and experience levels are welcome! Each session will feature a one-hour class, followed by two hours of open dancing. Admission is $10 for individuals or $14 for couples. To make a reservation, call the Mendelssohn PAC office at (815) 964-9713. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Tango will be held on the following dates: Fridays, Jan. 10, Feb. 14, March 14 and April 11. All dates and times are subject to change. For current information, visit the Mendelssohn PAC website at www.mendelssohnpac.org.

Maria Castello and Jacques Saint-Cyr have been collaborating since 1994, presenting performances in contemporary dance and tango. They performed at the International Folklore Festival, Drumondville; Espace Tangente, Montreal; Acadian Festival, Caraquet; Lanaudière Festival; Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington; “Tango Locure,” international Tango festival in Montréal; Rock Valley College; and in the series of the Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center in Rockford.
