Missing Town of Beloit baby found alive in Iowa, aunt in custody

The 6-day-old boy reported missing from his Town of Beloit home  Thursday, Feb. 6, has been found alive.

According to Town of Beloit Police Chief Steven Kopp, Kayden Powell was located at a gas station off of I-80 in Iowa Friday morning, Feb. 7.

Police say Kristin Smith, Kayden’s aunt, snatched him out his bassinet and was heading back to her home in Colorado when when she was stopped at around 10 a.m.

The baby discovered missing from his Homeland Court residence at around 4:30 a.m., Thursday.

Kayden and his parents, 18-year-old Brianna Marshall and 23-year-old Bruce Powell, were all sleeping in the same room when the he was taken.

Kristin Smith is Marshall’s half-sister.

Charges against Smith are pending. The baby was not harmed.
