Carl Cole offers Black History Month celebrations Feb. 15 and 28
The greater Rockford/Freeport region is invited to join renown musician Carl Cole, founder and CEO of Sounds of Good News Productions (SOGN), for two upcoming musical celebrations of February as National “Black History Month.”
The first celebration will be a “Concert of Peace” at 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2700 W. Stephenson St., Freeport, Ill. The theme will be: “Let There Be PEACE” (the title of Carl’s new piano CD release). Special selections will feature his wife Dianna (vocals), son Andrew (bass) and Prince of Peace Organist Joy Wirth.
The second celebration will be “A Night in MOTOWN” at 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28, at the Highland Community College Student Conference Center in Freeport. Special guests will include Dianna and the “Cole & Company” band.
Both events are free to the public. Donations and CD proceeds will benefit the SOGN “Young Eagles Success” “YES” Club Kids Program’s movement for “PEACE” (Positive Energy And Character Excellence).
The Coles recently implemented a “YES” Club at the Stephenson County Boys & Girls Club, with other sites pending.
