Children’s Choir presents ‘Singer’s Songbook’ Feb. 16 at Mendelssohn

The Rock Valley Children’s Choir (RVCC), a division of Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center, will present its 12th annual “Singer’s Songbook” concert titled “Beautiful Dreamer” at 3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 16, at Mendelssohn Hall, 406 N. Main St., downtown Rockford.

This performance will celebrate 150 years of Stephen Foster and 18th-century songs.

Hear all four choirs perform favorites including “My Old Kentucky Home,” “O Susanna,” “When Johnny Comes Marching Home,” “Goober Peas” and “Camptown Races.”

The RVCC, directed by Leah Baskin, is a performing and educational choral organization for youth in the northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin area. The RVCC consists of four separate choruses encompassing grades 1-12: Do-Re-Mi Singers (grades 1-3), Music Makers (grades 4-8), Crescendo (grades 6-8; audition-based choir), and Encore! (grades 9-12). The RVCC was established in 2002.
