Council Choraleers offer ‘America! — A Musical Celebration of Our Country’

The Council Choraleers, a community children’s chorus for ages 9-12 directed by local music educator and performing artist Dorothy Paige-Turner, will present “America! — A Musical Celebration of Our Country” at 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, in the JustGoods Listening Room, 201 Seventh St., Rockford.

The script of spoken word and songs will include a celebration of the 150th Lincoln’s “Gettysburg Address” and the “Emancipation Proclamation”; the “1963 March on Washington”; and the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Songs will include “Abraham, Martin and John,” “Battle Hymn for Gettysburg,” “Go Down, Moses,” “I Have a Dream,” “America, The Beautiful,” and “If You Add All the Love in the World.”

This exciting and unique performing experience is an opportunity to heighten community awareness of the enormous artistic talent of area youth. All are welcome to celebrate differences and discover similarities through lifting their collective voice in song.
