‘Give Seniors a Smile Day’ Feb. 14 at Park City Dental in Rockford

Staff Report

Dr. Jason Grinter and Dr. Hillary Berry of Park City Dental in Rockford will present “Give Seniors a Smile Day” on Valentine’s Day Feb. 14. Though February is usually designated for “National Children’s Oral Health Month,” it is important to also remember senior citizens and their oral health needs.

A 2008 Winnebago County “Oral Health Needs Assessment” showed that fewer than half of the seniors surveyed had a routine check-up in the last year and only 50.1 percent reported they have a dentist or place they go to for regular care. It is not surprising that when asked why they did not receive all of the dental care they needed, almost a third reported it was because the care was too expensive.

Park City Dental opened in 2012 and is inside the 555 N. Court St. offices, which also house the Winnebago County Health Department. Since its opening, Dr. Grinter’s vision has always been to be a dental home to some of the community’s most vulnerable populations and to offer them a state-of-the-art dental experience that shows respect and dignity to its patients.

All seniors ages 55 and older are welcome. All exams, X-rays and dental cleanings are free of charge. Registration is required, so call at (815) 708-6556 to make an appointment. Visit www.ParkCityDentalRockford.com for more details.
