Have you had enough of this dreary winter? It’s time to pull your favorite Hawaiian shirt out of the closet and escape to the tropics for an evening of dancing, eating, enjoying music and an overall great night with friends.
The Northern Illinois Parrot Head Club (NIPHC) will host the 14th Annual Island Beach Bash from 6 p.m. to midnight, Saturday, Feb. 22, at Giovanni’s, 610 N. Bell School Road, Rockford.
Bring your friends and dance the night away starting at 6 p.m. with the tropical tunes of Tony Amber. This year, the Beach Bash will feature two bands — Pirates Over 40 and Mr. Myers.
Money raised from the Beach Bash will benefit the Northwestern Illinois Special Olympics. Last year, $14,000 was raised with more than 400 parrot heads and friends dancing the night away.
“We have groups that come in as far away as Peoria and Springfield for this event,” said Denis Knuth, president of NIPHC. “If you’re a fan of Jimmy Buffett and the tropical lifestyle, then you’ll love this fun break from the wintertime blues.”
Cheeseburgers and chips for $5 will be available for purchase. The event will feature a 50/50 raffle, silent auction and a raffle with outstanding prizes and much more.
Tickets for the event are $15 per person in advance or $20 at the door. Tickets will be available at Giovanni’s, Psaltis Chiropractic, 4202 Maray Drive, and at Kobyco Windows and Doors, 4131 N. Perryville. For more information or to purchase tickets, go to www.niphc.com or www.islandbeachbash.com.
For more about the event or the club, contact Knuth at (815) 398-5237 or e-mail Denis at IslandBeachBash@gmail.com.
The NIPHC is a non-profit group interested in Jimmy Buffet music, community service and environmental issues.
