Rockford Rescue Mission’s ‘Walk a Mile in My Shoes’ walk-a-thon Feb. 22

Rockford Rescue Mission’s annual walk-a-thon, “Walk a Mile in My Shoes,” is set for Saturday, Feb. 22, in downtown Rockford. The event will begin with check-in and registration at 9 a.m. at Rockford Rescue Mission’s Hope Place, 715 W. State St.

The 1-mile walk kicks off at 10 a.m., with participants walking to the Mission’s former home of 28 years (1971-1999) at 121 S. Madison St. Then, the walk returns to the current Mission campus for an awards ceremony and a light lunch.

Those interested in participating may register in advance at the Mission’s website, Onsite registration is also available on the morning of the event, with doors opening at 9 a.m. All walkers are asked to collect pledges in support of their efforts, and participants who raise a minimum of $50 will receive a free T-shirt commemorating the event. Walkers are also encouraged to secure additional monetary pledges as well as donations of food and clothing. All proceeds benefit the men, women and children served by Rockford Rescue Mission.
