RSO features Academy Award-winning music March 29
The Rockford Symphony Orchestra (RSO) ends the 2013/14 Rockford Health System Pops Series with “Lights, Cameras … The Oscars,” featuring beloved songs from Academy Award-winning movies.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 29, at the Coronado Performing Arts Center, 314 N. Main St., Rockford.
Following the performance, the RSO will host a Red Carpet Party on the stage of the Coronado.
Since 1934, many of our most beloved songs have been Oscar winners or come from an Academy Award-winning movie. The RSO is joined by two Broadway singers — RSO favorite Nat Chandler, along with Teri Dale Hansen, for all the best tunes from Titanic, Aladdin, Rocky, Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind, Chariots of Fire and many more.
Hansen starred as Magnolia in London’s West End in Harold Prince’s Tony Award-winning production of Show Boat, made her Broadway debut in 2002 in The Boys from Syracuse, and, in that same year, began concertizing with Marvin Hamlisch worldwide.
Chandler starred as Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera, directed by Harold Prince, and toured nationally as Lancelot in Camelot, starring Robert Goulet. Chandler has played leading roles in a broad spectrum of American musicals and operetta across the country, including Kiss Me Kate, Beauty and the Beast, A Little Night Music, Carousel with Shirley Jones, South Pacific with Howard Keel, Oklahoma!, Cinderella, Cabaret and many more.
Tickets for this concert are available online at www.rockfordsymphony.com or by calling the RSO Box Office at (815) 965-0049. Ticket prices range from $22 to $60. Student tickets are $7.
