Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity (RAHFH) will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Friday, April 11, to celebrate the first homes the nonprofit will build and sell in the 61108 ZIP code.
The groundbreaking ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. at 804 Arnold Ave. in Rockford. The ceremony will last about 25 minutes, and is open to the public.
RAHFH welcomes their new neighbors to come by to learn more about how the organization selects homebuyers and sells affordable homes.
Following the groundbreaking, RAHFH would like to invite the public to join them for a Family Lunch Break just down the street at Lino’s Restaurant. The luncheon will include a pasta meal and a short program to share the vision for the upcoming construction season.
RAHFH is an ecumenical, Christian homeownership organization that seeks to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope. RAHFH provides affordable homeownership opportunities to low-income families in the community. Serving the area since 1988, RAHFH has sold 104 homes at-cost to qualified buyers who received a zero-interest loan. For more information, visit www.rockfordhabitat.org.
