Occupational therapy event April 16
Online Staff Report
Do you or your loved ones struggle with a disease, disorder or limitation that makes it difficult to engage in everyday activities? Occupational therapy can help increase your participation and independence while reducing health care costs.
OSF Home Care Services is hosting an event for the public to meet occupational therapists and have general therapy questions answered (occupational therapy services do require a physician order).
The OSF Home Medical Equipment store will also display aids to daily living, which assist occupational therapy patients in their environments (home, work, school, community, etc.).
The event will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, at OSF Home Care Services, 5501 E. State St., Rockford.
Occupational therapy helps people recover from injury and regain function through retraining and/or adaptations and provides support for older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes. Services typically include the following:
• An individualized evaluation, during which the client, family and occupational therapist determine the person’s goals;
• A customized intervention to improve the person’s ability to perform daily activities and reach their goals; and
• An outcomes evaluation to ensure the goals are being met and/or to modify the intervention plan based on the patient’s needs and skills.
