“Is the jail population up or down? Who is the latest company to locate in the I-39 corridor? How have we positioned ourselves for the next decade? Winnebago County Chairman Scott Christiansen will highlight the past decade and look at what lies ahead during his annual State of the County address, titled ‘Game On!’, during the Rockford Chamber of Commerce luncheon, Thursday, April 17, at Giovanni’s.
“First appointed chairman in 2004, Scott Christiansen has worked tirelessly to make Winnebago County a safer community, stimulate economic growth and development that results in more jobs for the area, protect our green spaces and promote tourism. Chairman Christiansen accomplished all this while reducing the Winnebago County budget by almost 18 percent over the past five years.
“Chairman Scott Christiansen works across party lines to craft solutions to problems facing Winnebago County. He continues to develop partnerships and collaborations with other organizations, both inside and outside Winnebago County lines to make our county safer, economically vibrant and a more enjoyable location to live, work and visit.
“During last year’s luncheon, Christiansen unveiled a county-wide collaborative crime initiative called ‘KnockOut Crime.’ His plan included increasing patrol, incorporating a 311 Center into the United Way 211 Call Center, launching a Text-a-Tip program, and expanding the number of neighborhood groups.”
