Shelley Smith featured artist in Beloit art show
Online Staff Report
BELOIT, Wis. — The Beloit Fine Arts Incubator is pleased to announce Shelley Smith as their featured artist for May. Smith’s oil paintings capture views from our everyday world – the places and people we see every day, but then she takes them to a new perspective. Her subjects reflect their history, irony, isolation and/or beauty — a reflection of our past, present and future. She uses solid brush strokes, shadows and light as well as vibrant colors and shapes.
A native of Milwaukee, she now lives in Janesville, Wis. Smith is a member of the Wisconsin Regional Atists Association, and over the last 20 years, her art has been accepted into numerous juried shows such as: Greenwich Village Art Fair in Rockford; Art Fair on the Square in Madison; Oconomowoc Festival of the Arts in Oconomowoc and Women’s Works in Woodstock. Her work is held in private and corporate collections throughout the country.
An artist’s reception will be held from 5-8 p.m., Friday, May 2, at Beloit Fine Arts Incubator, 520 E. Grand Ave., Beloit, with the artist on hand to answer questions about her art. The event is open to the public at no charge. The show will continue through the month of May with the gallery open Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call (608) 313-9083.
