Online Staff Report
Saint Anthony College of Nursing and OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center staff are collaborating to offer a special “Explore Healthcare” camp for students who are entering sixth, seventh and eighth grades this fall.
The three-day camp will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, June 17-19, at the Saint Anthony College of Nursing facility at OSF Guilford Square, 698 Featherstone Road, Rockford.
The camp offers a fun, hands-on and interactive introduction to different areas of health care, from laboratory science and emergency medicine to forensic science. Students will be able to check for vital signs and provide treatment for life-like simulation mannequins, learn about first aid and applying casts to fractures, develop an understanding of disabilities and what physical therapy can do, view OSF Lifeline Ambulance and OSF Lifeline Helicopter, and discover what occurs in a decontamination tent.
The fee for “Explore Healthcare” is $75 for all three days. Box lunches, snacks and free T-shirts are included in the fee. Students cannot be dropped off before 8:45 a.m.
Enrollment is limited to the first 50 students, and registration by Thursday, May 15, is required.
