Anderson Japanese Gardens, 318 Spring Creek Road, Rockford, welcomes Jon Carlson, owner of J. Carlson Growers, for a garden walk with a horticultural perspective Thursday, May 15. Walks begin at 5:30 and 6:45 p.m., and last around an hour.
Carlson will lead a tour of Anderson Japanese Gardens, showcasing some of its horticultural highlights. Light, soil and space requirements of the featured plants will be discussed. To maintain intimacy and provide the best group experience, each group is limited to 30 guests.
Carlson is the owner of J. Carlson Growers, Inc., in Rockford. His nursery has been providing quality landscape plants for many public and private gardens in northern Illinois for more than 30 years. The nursery contains 79 acres of landscape-size trees, shrubs and perennials.
The event is free to Anderson Japanese Garden members and $5 for non-members. Reservations are required and can be made by contacting Sara at (815) 316-3307 or email@example.com.
Anderson Japanese Gardens will host lectures the third Thursday of each month through October, and the second Tuesday of November.
