‘Trolley Car 36’ offers spring excursion rides through May 17
Online Staff Report
For the first time, Rockford Park District’s rail-based Trolley Car 36 is operating public excursion rides during the spring season. The 30-minute narrated rides provide passengers with fun and fascinating information about Rockford’s history as the trolley departs from Nicholas Conservatory and travels alongside the Rock River Recreation Path to Riverview Park and the Symbol sculpture before arriving back at the conservatory.
Public rides are scheduled Saturdays only, through May 17, at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Ride tickets can be purchased on board, or inside Nicholas Conservatory, 1354 N. Second St., Rockford.
Guests are encouraged to complete their experience by touring the Eclipse Lagoon and Gardens and/or upgrading their ticket to a “Trolley to the Tropics” package that includes admission to Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens, which is open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturdays.
Trolley Car 36 is wheelchair accessible (maximum two wheelchairs per ride).
