MACHESNEY PARK, Ill. — U.S. Cellular celebrated the grand opening of a newly remodeled digital store in Machesney Park, Ill., May 8-11 with a ribbon-cutting with The Parks Chamber of Commerce at 10 a.m., May 8. The store renovation is the latest initiative by the company as part of its commitment to the northern Illinois area.
“At U.S. Cellular, we have been proud members of the Rockford-area community for the past 15 years, and we want to provide the world’s best wireless experience for our customers here,” said Scott Preston, area sales manager for U.S. Cellular in northern Illinois. “We are committed to investing in the areas where our customers work, live and play, so we’re bringing this high-concept store to Machesney Park residents following the launch of our specialized Device Workshops pilot program featuring iPhone and iPad, which recently debuted at this location.”
U.S. Cellular invested $23.7 million throughout Illinois in network enhancements, store upgrades and the Calling All Communities program in 2013. This year, U.S. Cellular is continuing its commitment to Illinois and the Rockford area with this $370,000 renovation that nearly doubled the store size to 3,200 square feet. The Machesney Park location will continue to employ 12 associates, with 34 total associates in the Rockford area. Outside of the stores, the company will continue to have a strong presence this summer through a variety of volunteer activities with the Northern Illinois Food Bank and the United Way for the National Day of Caring, in addition to local event sponsorships.
The highly experiential store has a 1,900-square-foot showroom and features three phone bars to give customers hands-on access to the latest devices and accessories. It has a lounge area for customers and U.S. Cellular associates to engage in a more comfortable shopping experience, as well as an improved service center with an on-site technician. Customers will be guided through the advanced features and functions on their new devices that keep them organized and enhance their lives.
U.S. Cellular keeps customers connected with devices for a variety of needs, from 4G LTE smartphones, tablets, and hotspots to vehicle monitoring and home phone and Internet solutions. At this remodeled store, customers can test out this line-up of devices, including the Samsung Galaxy S 5 and a variety of Apple products. Rockford-area customers also enjoy fast web browsing and quick app downloads with access to 4G LTE speeds that are up to 10 times faster than 3G.
In addition to the remodeled store in Machesney Park, U.S. Cellular has also committed $210,000, $70,000 per store, for remodels at authorized agent stores in the Rockford area, which include:
Quality Cellular, 2430 Charles St., Rockford;
Dr. Detail’s, 3708 N. Main St., Rockford; and
Quality Cellular, 3927 W. Riverside, Rockford.
The Machesney Park store is at 1516 West Lane and is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday. For more information, contact the store at (815) 633-2210.
