Area garbage collection delayed a day because of Memorial Day

Staff Report

Garbage collection for City of Rockford residents Monday May 26, and the balance of that week will be delayed one day because of the Memorial Day holiday. Residents who normally have garbage pick-up Monday will have their garbage picked up on Tuesday, and so on through the subsequent days of the week.

The Household Hazardous Waste Site at 3333 Kishwaukee St. will be open as usual from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, May 24, and noon to 4 p.m., Sunday, May 25.

As a reminder, the new blue 32-gallon recycling containers are for recycling only. Use of the recycling container for yard waste or garbage will result in the container having a sticker placed by Rock River Disposal for the inappropriate material and left uncollected. Failure to correct the issue may result in referral to the Code Enforcement Unit for corrective action.
