Deadline May 23 for Girl Scouts’ Young Women of Distinction event, Olivia Dvorak to keynote

Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois (GSNI) will honor 20 Girl Scouts who have earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award a Girl Scout can earn, at the organization’s annual Young Women of Distinction event. Girls will be recognized for leadership and development of Take Action! Projects throughout their communities Sunday, June 8, at Giovanni’s Restaurant, 610 N. Bell School Road, Rockford. Registration and social hour begins at 12:30 p.m., with a luncheon program at 1 p.m. Keynote speaker will be Olivia Dvorak, a singer/songwriter blending unique styles from country, pop and folk into her own music and writing. Reservations are open to the public. Tickets are $25 per youth (younger than 18); $35 per registered Girl Scout adult; $40 general public; and $320 per table of eight.
