Red Shoe Run thanks the community

The 11th Annual Red Shoe Run for Donor Awareness took place on Saturday, April 12, 2014, and it was a tremendous success. We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the community for supporting this annual event. The day allows us to recognize the lifesaving, life-restoring benefits of blood, organ, tissue, eye and marrow donation. Money raised helps add potential heroes to the Rock River Valley Blood Center’s Be the Match Marrow Program. Nearly $60,000 was raised for tissue typing.

Six hundred twenty runners and almost 300 walkers faced the brisk morning. Top female runner was Shannon Teunissen of Belvidere; top male runner was Jeremy Stevens of Rockford.

Special thanks to our Diamond Sponsors: McDonald’s and Rockford Health Systems; our Platinum Sponsors: OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, Rockford Nephrology, and Sam’s Club; Gold Sponsors: Alpine Bank, Benny and Sons Body Shop, Biological Resource Center of Illinois, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, Illinois Eye Bank, SwedishAmerican Health System, and Wipfli LLP, CPAs and Accountants, Midwest Family Broadcasting, and our other generous sponsors.

Save the date: Saturday, April 11, 2015.
