Rockford City Market opens fifth season Friday, May 30
Friday, May 30, Rockford City Market kicks off its fifth season with more than 65 vendors, many new to the market. The market will once again expand its grounds to accommodate the continued growth of vendors and attendance.
In 2013, Rockford City Market grounds were expanded north on Water Street, when more than 75,000 patrons visited. The grounds have once again been expanded farther north on Water Street to the Jefferson Street Bridge.
Rockford City Market is held every Friday between May 30 and Oct. 10 (closed July 4) on Water Street between State and Jefferson streets in downtown Rockford. The market features local growers and vendors who sell natural products and unique retail items, live music, demonstrations and kids’ activities. Market hours are 3-8 p.m., May 30-Aug. 29, and 3-7 p.m., Sept. 5-Oct. 10.
The market welcomes back vendors from last year, such as AnJan’s Eats, Bella Luna Bakery and Wood Fire Brick Oven Pizza. New vendors include Popcorn Parlor, Joey C’s Pasta and Woodford Street Baking Company, among others. Additionally, Rockford Brewing Company and Pig Minds Brewing Company have partnered to provide locally brewed craft beer, filling the vacancy left by Carlyle’s departure. LaMonica Beverages will also have an additional booth on Water Street this year.
