Mendelssohn Chorale seeks singers for Bergstrom’s 65th anniversary
Online Staff Report
Bergstrom, one of Rockford’s leading manufacturers and longtime supporter of the arts, will celebrate 65 years in business with a large event at the BMO Harris Center Friday night, June 27. The Mendelssohn Chorale has been asked to share in the celebration, along with Kantorei and the Rockford Symphony.
One Chorale rehearsal will be at 7 p.m., Thursday, June 26, at Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center, 406 N. Main St., downtown Rockford. Friday, June 27, Bergstrom will provide a shuttle from Mendelssohn PAC to the BMO Harris Center at 5 p.m. for a run-through and sound check with the RSO. The Chorale will sing the Armed Forces Salute toward the beginning of the evening. Then, Bergstrom will host the Talent on the third floor of the BMO Center, 228 S. Main St., for dinner and until the finale of the performance, a bit before 10 p.m. The finale repertoire will be Carmon Dragon’s arrangement of “America, the Beautiful” including the Chorale, Kantorei and RSO. Section leaders will also be singing with Kantorei on Joel Ross’s arrangement of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” Concert attire is long black for women and dark suit, white shirt and tie for men.
For those who conduct high school or middle school choirs, the repertoire could be used for the last few days of school and might get some students interested in joining the Chorale for the evening and in the future. Contact Rose Carr, Chorale personnel manager, regarding music for groups. Music for others participating will be distributed at the Thursday night rehearsal. Church choir directors are welcome to invite their members to sing.
Contact Rose Carr by Friday, June 13, regarding an interest to participate. Carr can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or (815) 965-6526.
