Rockford woman winner in Chicago Latina pageant

Michaela Strick-Martinez, representing Rockford, won The Midwest Belleza Latina pageant in Chicago Sunday, May 19. She was also named Miss Congeniality. She will next be competing for the international title this August in Orlando, Fla. Strick-Martinez is a 2012 graduate of Rockford East High School. She attended Rock Valley College, and in the fall, will be continuing her education at Judson University while playing softball and pursuing a degree in social services/human services. Strick-Martinez has been to numerous events in the local area, such as The Color Run, RPS 205 Run, The Bow Tie March, and spoke to students at Flinn and Lincoln middle schools about the importance of education, working hard and having dreams.
