Did you know that the United States is home to three fifths of the world’s known crayfishes and one third of all known freshwater mussels? From these small creatures to bears, heron, otters and salmon, our rivers support an amazing variety of fish and wildlife.
The support of individuals like you – people who care deeply about protecting and restoring our nation’s rivers – is critical to the work we do. That’s why I’m asking you to become a member of American Rivers.
When you join today, you’ll help protect rivers like the North Fork Flathead River in Montana, where thanks to our advocacy, the US House of Representatives passed an act banning new mining and energy development on more than 430,000 acres.
You support will also help to restore rivers like Town Brook, the stream that sustained the Wampanoag Nation and the Pilgrims in Plymouth, Massachusetts. In April, we celebrated the return of river herring to the brook thanks to our work restoring habitat by removing six dams.
