Musician Jim Gill at Discovery Center June 20

Online Staff Report

Rockford native and professional singer/songwriter/author Jim Gill will strum his banjo while you dance and sing along to his interactive and energetic tunes Friday, June 20, at Discovery Center Museum, 711 N. Main St., Rockford.

Gill will give two live performances — at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Cost is included with museum admission (public: $8 per person; kids age 1 and younger are free; and museum members are free).

Enjoy a concert with Gill as he bangs out lively rhythms on his banjo while you clap, jump, dance and sing along to his award-winning songs. Before or after his show, get your hands on some swirly twirly art, create noisemakers and more.

The Jim Gill Family Friday is sponsored by Rockford Bank & Trust and a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency.

Discovery Center is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m., daily. Learn more at or by calling the museum at (815) 963-6769.
