Retired pastor the Rev. Keith Kelsey Powell has been elected chairman of the Rockford Urban Ministries (RUM) Council. He replaces the Rev. Enrique Gonzalez, who is leaving to serve in Wisconsin. Powell served five years at Court Street United Methodist Church in Rockford, retiring in 2011.

RUM is the outreach of 22 churches, primarily United Methodist. The following are RUM officers:

2014-2015 Executive Committee — Chairman the Rev. Keith Kelsey Powell; Vice Chairman Coralee Hardwick; Secretary Pam Herriott; Treasurer Lee Schreiner; and Rockford District Superintendent Lisa Kruse-Safford.

Executive Committee members — the Rev. Dick Wang, retired; the Rev. Don Long, retired; Nancy Houtz Spring Creek UCC; the Rev. Ivan Schoen, Spring Creek UCC; the Rev. David Poust, First UMC Forreston; Karen Fysh, Rockton UMC; the Rev. Christopher Druce Jones, Poplar Grove UMC; the Rev. Brian Channel, Durand UMC; and the Rev. Matthew Johnson, Unitarian Universalist, Rockford.
