Police seek assistance in identifying suspect in May 31 hit-and-run

Saturday, May 31, an unknown black male in a lighter-colored vehicle thought to be a Pontiac Grand Am struck a vehicle in the parking lot of Rockford Food and Liquor at 1725 Kiskwaukee St. When leaving the parking lot after striking the vehicle, the driver was confronted by security in the parking lot. The driver then drove at the security officer, striking him in the legs. The armed security officer fired his handgun at the driver. The driver fled the area in the vehicle, and has not been located.

Police are asking anyone with information about the identity of the suspect to call the Rockford Police Department at (815) 987-5824 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 769-STOP.
