Suspect known as “Kool Aid” in custody

Lamarcus Bassett, the fugitive known as “Kool Aid,” is now behind bars.
Bassett, 21, is suspected in a number of recent shootings and robbery incidents. He was arrested Sunday, June 22, at a residence in the 700 block of Cunningham. He was spotted early Sunday morning in a red Nissan Maxima near the corner of Auburn Road and Rockton Avenue.
Tuesday, June 17, a victim was robbed at gunpoint at 4104 Auburn St. Two days later, a victim was shot in a drive-by in the 800 block of Royal Avenue. Bassett was identified as a suspect in both incidents, as well as shootings earlier this month.
Bassett has been charged with several offenses, including aggravated battery with a firearm, armed robbery and domestic battery. Bond has been set at $1.2 million on the current charges. However he is being held without bail on a parole violation.
