LOVES PARK, Ill. — Both Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful (KNIB) recycle centers will be open during the holiday weekend, Saturday, July 5. In honor of Independence Day, cell phones will be donated to Cell Phones for Soldiers.
“All cell phones recycled on July 5 will be shipped to ‘Cell Phones for Soldiers’ to help veterans and active-duty military in need of cost-free communication services at home or overseas,” said KNIB Executive Director Lori Gummow.
The two recycle centers are at 13125 N. Second St., Roscoe, and 4665 Hydraulic Road, Rockford. Both are operated by volunteers year-round from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturdays. To volunteer, contact Martha Byrnes via e-mail at Martha@knib.org or call (815) 637-1343. For a list of recyclable items accepted, visit www.knib.org.
This event is one of several special collections planned this summer by KNIB. Watch for other special re-use and recycling collection notifications, or contact KNIB to be added to the electronic news e-mail list.
