Director of Business Development, River District Association
Greetings from the River District!
As we finally approach the summer months, I would like to take this opportunity to inform you of all of the events that the River District has to offer as well as encourage you to join this exciting and productive organization.
The River District Association is a private, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, membership-based organization and is supported through membership dues, donations, sponsorships, grants and fund-raisers. The association’s mission is to promote a growing, thriving, prosperous business, residential and arts community in Rockford’s downtown neighborhood, River District. The River District consists of business areas and residential neighborhoods east and west of the Rock River that encompass Rockford’s growing downtown.
This year, we are excited to announce our 2014 schedule of events, including the following:
• Historical Walking Tours — July 25 at 7:30 p.m. during City Market;
• Rock River Sweep — Sept. 6;
• The 4th Annual Rods on the Rock with the Lombardi Club — Sept. 13;
• Fall Cook’s Tour — Sept. 24;
• Groove Walk with RAMI (Rockford Area Music Industry) — Oct. 18; and
• Heart of Rockford Awards — Fall 2014.
The River District is actively involved in many community projects and works together with other organizations to enhance and better our downtown neighborhoods. This summer will bring an exciting beautification project and neighborhood improvements. We are continually advocating for our downtown businesses, and work hard to promote our growing and developing downtown.
I am enthusiastically inviting you to become a member of this exciting and community-driven organization. We are always looking for volunteers as well to help with events. For more about membership and events, please go to our website at riverdistrict.com.
Downtown Rockford is transforming; become part of the energy and excitement!
