UPDATE: Death investigation continues on Rockford’s east side

The man found dead inside a Rockford office has been identified.

Police say 37-year-old Todd Hansmeier was found among the rubble of a fire inside the QVSM call center Monday morning. According to results of an autopsy, Hansmeier died from head and neck trauma. The case is being investigated as a homicide.

The man found dead inside the QVSM call center, at 320 N. Alpine Road, Rockford, was a victim of a homicide, police said Monday, June 30. A cause of death has not been announced, however, the victim suffered trauma. A fire was confined to the area where the body was found. The victim did not work at the call center, police said.

Rockford Police are still on the scene of a investigation inside an east side office building, where a man was found dead Monday morning, June 30.

Police say a man in his 30s was discovered by Rockford firefighters inside a building in the 300 block of North Alpine Road just before 6 a.m. A fire had been set in the building and the automatic sprinklers were triggered, sending firefighters to the address.

Early reports that the man was a victim of a homicide have not been confirmed, however, Winnebago County Coroner Sue Fiduccia reported the body suffered trauma. The name of the victim has not been released.
