FREEPORT, Ill. — Freeport will play host to a fireworks skyconcert Friday, July 4, at Stephenson County Fairgrounds, 2250 S. Walnut Road. The display will be synchronized to music by Kickin’ Country K 92 (92.1 FM) radio to give a unique concert effect. Those attending are encouraged to bring their radios with.
Prior to the fireworks, a variety of food and soft drinks will be available on the fairgrounds. Sponsors include the Stephenson County Fair Association, the Stephenson County Extension Homemakers, and Golden K, which will serve hot dogs, hamburgers, pie and ice cream, and kettle corn. Time Warp Entertainment will provide musical ambiance before the fireworks display.
There is no rain date, and the fireworks will be displayed by Melrose Pyrotechnics.
“We face many challenges in the City of Freeport, but we also have a long tradition of Fourth of July celebrations and enjoyment,” said Freeport Mayor Jim Gitz. “I am glad that the council approved this expenditure and empowered the staff to make our Fourth of July celebration possible.”
